Adjusting a Neck that's too wide. Is your shirt falling off your shoulders?

So your neck is too wide on your sleeveless top/dress, and consequently the shoulders keep slipping off.  Here's a quick adjustment to get a good shoulder fit.   All fitting starts from the shoulder so getting this correct will allow you to draft with confidence.  This example is on a sleeveless top, however, this applies to garments with sleeves as well, except in that case you would also make some adjustments to the cap.  I'll save that for another tutorial.

I've been working the last few weeks to update my patterns:  Adjusting fit, retuning format, eliminating patterns, combining patterns, expanding the size range of patterns.  Here's a new pattern in my lineup.  I've eliminated the Active Pant with Yoga waist to replace it with this much more versatile pattern:  Namaste Leggings.  This new pattern gives you even better fit with the option of a yoga waist or an elastic fold-over waist and tight fitting leggings or a baby bootcut.  Use the directions for the Active Pant with Yoga Waist to construct this pattern.  All the steps are the same if you're making the yoga style.

Hourglass Pattern©: Easy Construct Maxi Skirt

No time to sew......I got you covered.  I just added a second maxi skirt to my pattern store.   However, this one is super simple to make.  It's a 2 piece pattern with a 1" elastic waist.  You can make this maxi or midi in less than 1/2 hour.  I've been making them in about 25 minutes when I use my serger to roll the hem.  Don't get me wrong, I love a super complicated advanced pattern once in a while.   But when I need to fill the closet with essentials, then the 1/2 hour pattern is my best friend.

It's my favorite time of year....no more sewing for winter, sewing for my favorite seasons:  Spring and summer.  I love the V neck style.  This pattern has a great fit as is, but you can alter it in so many ways.  

Here's some of the ways to change the look:  

drop the underarm by 1/2" to 1" maximum,  

extend the sides to turn it into a dress, 

drop the v-neck so it's deeper, 

narrow the shoulders for a more shoulder baring look.
