Sewing Tutorial Sleeveless Drape Neck Knit Top (DNNSKT)

Follow the pictorial steps to make this pattern

Front and Back Bodice for Sleeveless Drape Neck Knit Top. This is designed for knits only. The sample was made with a slightly stretchy ITY

I use Best Press Spray for adding a little starch to my binding
Pattern includes enough binding to do the neck and armholes. So you will always cut off the excess binding and save for the next opening to bind

The neck facing will overlap the shoulder seam as depicted.  Before you sew this seam, make sure your Back Bodice with the neck binding attached is arranged nicely between the Front Bodice and the Neck Facing so it is touching the facing all the way to the end and sitting in there nicely with no bunching
Directional sew from inside the shoulder to the outside so you can ensure that binding stays in position as described above.  I use alot of pins a this juncture.  I would not use the serger for this step.  I would sew and then serge to clean finish.

This is very important:  Keep the shoulder seams rolling to the front as you're attaching the armhole binding.  This design requires it!!!!

You want to get this just right so you binding matches up perfectly.  So match the binding first and the notches second.  Any small discrepancies will show up at the hem, and you can fix this when you turn up the hem in the final stage.

Congratulations! You are done. Enjoy showing off your newest accomplishment.

    1. Holly, here's a link on Craftsy if you want to adjust the pattern to increase the amount of drape. It's the 5th pic across.

  2. Knits are my specialty. I'm 5'4" and 120 lbs, but I'm very muscular so nothing ever fits me. RTW Juniors is too tight and petite is too small and women's is too big. I make this top more than any other for all my clients. It looks great on every body type, it's especially flattering for a smaller bust. Happy Sewing!
